Abstract :
Ekiri syndrome is lethal toxic encephalopathy that is associated with shigella infection. We report two children with Ekiri syndrome
secondary to shigella sonnei infection. However, it may develop in the absence of severe intestinal or metabolic derangement. The
exact pathogenesis of this syndrome remains unknown, and despite intensive treatment, the outcome is often associated with
high mortality rate.
