INTRODUCTION–Preeclampsia is a major cause of maternal and prenatal morbidity and mortality worldwide. So it is a major challenge in modern obstectrics for early identification of pregnancy”at risk for preeclampsia” and undertake necessary measures for the needful. AIM– To investigate the level of association of risk factors enclosed in HDP GESTOSIS SCORE with development of preeclampsia and its predictive performance. MATERIALS AND METHODS– Hospital based unmatched case control study design was employed .In 12 month study period we took 100 patients as cases(diagnosed PIH), 100 pregnant women as control(normotensive).Based on their obstetric scores, medical disease, anthropometric measurement, certain clinical questionnaire, laboratory parameters, family history ,we scored the individual parameter as ,1,2,3 as recommended by FOGSI–GESTOSIS–ICOG.Total score was calculated and was analysed in SPSS 16. RESULTS–Factors that were found to have statistically significant association with HDP were MAP>85mmHg (AOR: 22.03 95% CI: 1o.o6–48.22) ,age >35yrs (AOR: 5.21, 95% CI: 2.75– 9.85), maternal hypothyroidism (AOR,4.82 95% CI: 2.54–9.37), primi(AOR: 4.54, 95% CI: 2.50–8.25), age <19 yrs(AOR: 4.04( 95% CI:2.05– 8.18) CONCLUSION–Pregnant women at risk of pre–eclampsia should be identified and high–quality antenatal care should be given in order to minimize the complications of pre–eclampsia both for the mother and the fetus.
