Asthma is a common airway inflammatory disorder characterized by variable airway obstruction and hyper–responsiveness. Patients with Thyroid disorders present with more signs of asthma. Hyperthyroidism increases severity of Asthma while Hypothyroidism has strong influence on bronchial asthma by inhibiting some of its symptoms or amplifying them more than in isolated bronchial asthma. Objectives were:1)To know the proportion and type of thyroid disorder in cases of Bronchial asthma 2)To find out relationship between thyroid disorder and Bronchial Asthma control.50 asthmatic patients from Sheth L.G hospital, Ahmedabad from January 2019 to January 2020 were included in the study. Necessary laboratory Investigations were done. All data was recorded and analyzed after period of 12 months.Out of 50 patients,34(68%)patients of Bronchial Asthma had Euthyroid state,13(26%)had Hypothyroidism and 03(6%)patients had Hyperthyroidism. Our study showed that Asthmatic patients usually found to be Euthyroid but Hypothyroidism and Hyperthyroidism can also be seen in such patients.
