Background: Proper management of COM is significant because it is an important cause of middle ear disease. Hearing loss and otorrhea are common manifestations. Materials and methods: A total 100 patients diagnosed with CSOM attending the ENT OPD of Department of ENT and Head & Neck Surgery, SMGS Hospital, Jammu from January 2019 to January 2020 were retrospectively analysed. Patients fulfilling the selection criteria were included in the study after taking informed consent. All the patients in the study were clinically evaluated by taking detailed history and clinical examination. Broad spectrum antibiotics were given to dry up the ear discharge and dry aural toilet was done to remove debris from the ear canal. Otomicroscopy was performed following which Septic foci in the nose or in the throat were treated as out patients if infection present. Pre–operative PTA was done and Routine blood and urine analysis was also done. Results: Out of 100 patients in the study, 56 were females and 44 were males. The age range was 15–54 years. The overall average age was 32.5 years. In females it was 33.4 years whereas in males it was 28 years. 85% were in the age range of 25–55 years. Maximum patients i.e. 38% were in the age group of 25–35 years.64 patients had central perforation. 16 patients presented with attic perforation whereas 20 patients presented with marginal perforation. 64 patients were classified as safe type of CSOM whereas 36 patients were classified into unsafe type of CSOM. Conclusion: Early management of CSOM is necessary to prevent complications.
