Background:– Community Acquired Pneumonia is a very common health condition especially in south Asian countries. It has a large burden on Indian health care system due to inefficient health care and population ratio resulting into considerable morbidity and mortality. The following study reveals the importance of chest x ray films as initial investigation for early detection of pneumonitis cases at peripheral healthcare system. Aims &Objectives:– 1. Clinical assessment of cases of Respiratory Infection and making a diagnosis of Community Acquired Pneumonia. 2. Assessment of Chest X– ray findings in clinically diagnosed cases of Community Acquired Pneumonia. Material & Methods:– An institution–based cross–sectional study was conducted on randomly selected 60 Indoor patients at medicine department at RIMS Ranchi Hospital . Patients of clinically diagnosed Community Acquired Pneumonia case were selected according to Performa of sign and symptoms and investigated with Chest X–ray for radiographic findings. The study was conducted from October 2015 to October 2016. The consistency and completeness of the collected data were checked manually and then coded, cleaned, and entered by using SPSS version 16 software for further analysis. Ethical clearance from the college committee was taken. Written informed consent was taken from the participants. Results:– All patients had at least some type of Radiological pattern of involvement of Lung parenchyma. 48 patients had lobar pattern of involvement, 10 had bronchopneumonia and 2 had interstitial type of pneumonia. Among lobar involvement right lower lobe involvement was most predominant. Conclusion:–Chest R ray has a definitive role in confirmation of diagnosis of community acquired pneumonia at first point of contact at a health care system especially at periphery where early diagnosis and prompt treatment can lessen the morbidity and mortality related with this common healthcare problem.
