Introduction Monitoring patient satisfaction has become an important index to monitor of the quality of health care provided in the health care centres. Perioperative patient satisfaction has been associated to be related with the level of postoperative pain level, the desired outcome, accessability of the health care provider, inpatient services including hospital facilities and infrastructure, waiting time and cost of treatments underwent. The aim of the study is to assess the level of patient satisfaction in the pre–operative and post–operative periods associated with surgical services and associated factors. Methods A hospital based quantitative cross–sectional study was conducted in Saveetha Medical College & Hospital from 1st May 2019 to 1st June 2019. A simple questionnaire was devised which was used for this study. 100 patients were randomly selected who underwent surgery during the study period were included. P–values < 0.05 were considered statistically significant. Results One hundred patients underwent surgery during the study period were selected at random with a response rate of 100%. The choices the participants had were extremely satisfied, satisfied, moderately satisfied and not satisfied. The overall level of patient satisfaction after assessing the pre and post–operative questions was that 16% were extremely satisfied, 56% were satisfied, whereas 22% were moderately satisfied and 6% were not satisfied. Conclusion The level of patient satisfaction with perioperative surgical services was according to their expectations as compared with previous studies conducted in the country and other countries in the world. Health professionals need to give emphasis for information on care provision processes, patients‘ health progress and patients‘ complaints.
