Understanding Anxiety In Children With Learning Disability–Key To Mental Health

Abstract :
Anxiety is a normal emotion experienced by individuals of all ages. Children with learning disabilities frequently exhibit challenging behavior as a means of coping with frustration, anxiety and stress In children with learning disabilities anxiety disorders are well recognized may be underreported and under diagnosed. It is therefore essential that all mental health professionals, teachers, parents and others who are involved with children with learning disability acquire the fundamental skills needed at the interface of learning disability and psychiatric disorders. Anxiety can negatively affect the achievement and performance as well as social and psychological development among children with learning disability. The road to recovery is a team effort. Here we explore these key issues and implications for clinical practice with relation to anxiety disorders in children with learning disability.
