Transition Process from Modern Agriculture to Organic Agriculture in Karnataka – An Empirical Analysis

Abstract :
Organic farming is based on organic principles of nature and depends more on inputs produced on farm. Transition is the process of conversion from modern agriculture to organic agriculture. In this context, the present study to understand the transition process and to identify the reasons for the transition from modern agriculture to organic agriculture. The study shows that the conversion from modern to organic farming was different in the case of perennial crops and annual crops. While it was whole farm at a time in the case of perennial crops, it was plot-by-plot in the case of annual crops. The important factor influencing conversion was awareness about the environment.
