TAXONOMIC STUDIES ON LIGHT TRAP COLLECTED SPECIES OF ABRAXAS LEACH UNDER AGRO–CLIMATIC CONDITION IN MANDI DISTRICT OF HIMACHAL PRADESH

Abstract :

The light trap collection by using mercury lamp indicated that Aaxas Leach under agro-climatic condition of Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh is comprises of three species viz. Aaxas picaria Moore, Aaxas leucostola Hampson and Aaxas sylvata Scopoli. These species obatain their peak in July- August . Aaxas leucostola Hampson was found most abundant followed by Aaxas picaria Moore and Aaxas sylvata Scopoli on the basis of daily catches. The taxonomic study on these species carried out and described in detail. A key to the species of Aaxas Leach has also been provided for their easy identification.
