Abstract :

Purpose: To study the effect and correlation of energy used in Nd:yag laser posterior capsulotomy over IOP in pseudophakic patients who have undergone capsulotomy procedure attending ophthalmology OPD . Method: The study was conducted in 50 patients (group 1:energy used during procedure less than or equal to 50mj, group 2:energy used during procedure more than 50mj) aged more than 50 years , presented in our Ophthalmology department from january to june 2020.Pateints were taken according inclusion and exclusion criteria. Detailed history and complete ocular examination was done. IOP was measured pre and postprocedure at 15minutes, 30 minutes and 1 hour. Result: . Mean IOP prepcotomy in group 1 was 17.9± 1.5mmHg and mean IOP after pcotomy in group 1 at 15 minutes was 18.4±1.1 at 30 minutes it was 19.6±0.9 and at one hour it was 19.2± 1.0mmhgMean IOP prepcotomy in group 2 was 18.2± 1.4 mmHg and mean IOP after pcotomy in group 2 at 15minutes was 19.2 ± 0.8mmHg at 30 minutes was 20.8± 1.0mmHg and at one hour was 19.8 ±0.6 mmHg Conclusion:. All pseudophakic patients undergone Nd: yag laser posterior capsulotomy may not require anti–glaucoma medication patients who required energy more than 50mj during the procedure would need a close observation and if rise in IOP is documented, antiglaucoma drugs may be advised.
