Population Ageing in India with reference to Assam : An over view

Abstract :

 Population aging is a shift in the distribution of a country’s population towards older ages. The population of India is currently moving towards an old age structure and it is certain that there will be rapid growth in the elderly population in the near future. The quantum of population aging has important implications for government policies such as pension schemes, old age homes, health care and economic growth. This paper tries to analyse various socio–economic aspects of population ageing in India with special reference to Assam.
