Malignancy Trends in Breast Carcinoma in North Indian Females

Abstract :

Introduction-Breast cancer is fast becoming the most common cancer among females. Despite being the most amenable cancer for early detection and cure, mortality rates are very high.Therefore understanding its pathogenesis, morphological features , various prognostic, predictive as well as risk factors holds great promise for treatment, early detection and prevention of this cancer. Material and Methods-All the cases diagnosed histopathologically as east carcinoma were included in this study over a period of five years out of which four years was retrospective and one year was prospective. Results- Out of 332 cases of east biopsies received 155 cases were diagnosed with malignancy with most common age group of presentation being 41-50yrs(34.8%cases)and Infiltrating ductal carcinoma(NOS) was the commonest type of malignancy (75.5% cases). ConclusionThe rising incidence of east cancer implies the importance of east self examination and regular mammography as screening method for early detection and planning of treatment.
