EXPERIENCES WITH AETCOM MODULE TRAINING FOR FIRST-YEAR MBBS STUDENTS
Srabani Bhattacharya, Sundaram Kartikeyan
Abstract :
This cross–sectional study was conducted at a municipal medical college on first–year MBBS students (31 females and 48 males) to assess the students after completion of attitude, ethics and communication (AETCOM) training as per the new competency–based medical curriculum. The mean score of female students was 13.94 +/– 2.34 while that for their male counterparts was 13.88 +/– 2.20 and the gender differences in the average scores were not statistically significant (Z=0.113; p=0.909). However, the maximum score was higher for males and the third quartile was higher for females. The feedback obtained from the students would be useful for improving the training programme for future batches.
