Abstract :

Aim: To compare the fetal femur length of present study with the existing standard normogram. Material &Methods : This study consists of 100 pregnant females, between 15th to 39th weeks gestation with their age ranging from 18 –35 years, USG was done by using Gray scale real time (LOGIQ 400) machine employing a 3.5 MHz convex transducer. After a clear image of the femur was obtained, the freeze frame was employed and with the multidirectional electronic calipers the femur length was measured. Result: In present study the mean femur length in each week of gestation was compared with the western normogram. The maximum difference of 3 mm was found in both the 2nd and 3rd trimester. Conclusion: The femur showing the largest weekly incremental increase and the length of femur can easily and accurately be determined by ultrasonography in 2nd and 3rd trimester. So it can be used in establishing the correct gestational age.
