Dr. Smruthi K, Dr. Balachandra. S. Bhat, Dr Asifa Bilgi
Abstract :
Background: To determine presence or absence of correlation between plasma leakage and thrombocytopenia in a patient with Dengue fever. Methods: All patients admitted with Dengue ELISA positive in the year 2018–19 were selected retrospectively. Platelet count and evidence of plasma leakage were correlated by entering into a standardized pro forma after due ethical clearance. Results: A strong correlation between plasma leakage and platelet count was observed with a chi square test value of 0.001. Conclusions: Thrombocytopenia can influence occurance of plasma leakage in a patient with Dengue fever
