Abstract :

The study aims to assess the RI in patients with cirrhosis of liver and to compare the RI with CTP scoring system. Observational study was conducted in 100 Patients for six months at Kilpauk Medical College who were diagnosed to have cirrhosis of liver. Out of 100 patients 86% were males. Most common etiology was alcohol(44%) . Majority of the patients were CTP C(50%).Out of 100 patients, 62 (62%) had RI >0.7 and 38(38%) had RI≤ 0.7. RI > 0.7 seen in 1 patient (1.7%) in CTP A,21 patients (33.8%) in CTP B and 40 patients (64.5%) in CTP C .Statistical analysis was done and P value was found to be significant <.01.RI values are higher in cirrhotic patients having higher CTP score. Screening of all cirrhotic patients to estimate the value of RRI is essentially important as the degree of intra renal vasoconstriction can be predicted early before overt hepatorenal syndrome develops.
