COMPARATIVE EVALUATION OF COLOR STABILITY OF ESTHETIC RESTORATIVE MATERIALS AFTER EXPOSURE TO COMMONLY CONSUMED BEVERAGES : AN IN VITRO STUDY

Jani Mira, Yadav Gunjan

Abstract :

Aim: To evaluate the color stability of two restorative materials Ormocer and Zirconomer when immersed in various beverages (coca–cola, ice candy and bornvita) at low and high immersion periods. Materials and Methods: A total of 30 specimens were made with each restorative material. The specimens were divided into three groups based on beverages (n = 10 each) and were further divided into two subgroups based on immersion time (n = 5 each). The color changes (ΔE values) were measured using spectrophotometer. Results: Both the tested materials showed color change; however, zirconomer showed greater ΔE values when compared to ormocer and the samples exposed to coca–cola resulted in highest color change. Conclusion: Ormocer showed more resistance to color change than zirconomer with all the beverages.
