Abstract :

Biostatistics is the application of statistics to a wide range of topics in biology. Statistics is basically a way of thinking about data that are variable. Biostatistics encompasses the design of biological experiments, especially in medicine, pharmacy, agriculture and fishery; the collection summarization, and analysis of data from those experiments; and the interpretation of, and inference from, the results. More students are entering college having completed a statistics class, and more students are studying statistics at the research level. There is growing demand for a variety of strong research level programs in statistics to help prepare the next generation of students to make sense of the information around them. This review article deals with basic biostatistical concepts and their application to enable postgraduate medical and allied science students to analyze and interpret their study data and to critically interpret published literature.
