Institutional animal ethical clearance was obtained RESULTS:The analgesic effect was seen following oral administration of aqueous and ethanolic extract of Hemidesmusindicus, shown prolongation of reaction time and reduction in the number of attempts to dislodge the tail clip by mice. The hot plate method showed a statistically significant prolongation in the reaction time. The effects of both aqueous and ethanolic extract of Hemidesmusindicus are comparable with that of diclofenac sodium.
