Abstract :

Introduction:– Laparoscopic surgery is a modern surgical technique involving insufflation of gas (usually CO2) into the peritoneal cavity under pressure to separate the organs from the abdominal cavity. The main cardiovascular changes during laparoscopic surgeries are an increase in systemic vascular resistance, mean arterial blood pressure and myocardial filling pressures. Dexemeditomidine, a highly selective 2–agonist with a relatively high ratio of 2/1–activity promotes cardiovascular stability, sedation, analgesia and lacking respiratory depression making it useful in providing the hemodynamic stability and post operative analgesia. Our study plans to evaluate the effects of two different concentrations of dexmeditomidine infusion on hemodynamic response, sedation levels, post‐operative analgesia requirements. Material and methods:– This study was conducted at Govt Medical College and Associate group of Hospitals, Kota from june.2019 to jan.2020. We conducted a double blind, prospective, randomized controlled study of 60 adult cases of both sex. We divided the cases into 2 groups of 30 each, as GroupI Dex–0.25 => Patients received dexemeditomidine infusion 0.25 g/kg/hr. Group II Dex–0.5 => Patients received dexemeditomidine infusion 0.5 g/kg/hr. Standard protocol followed to administering general anaesthesia. All data were collected and analysed with the help of suitable statistical parameters. Results:– Our study results in that Dexemeditomidine administered at an infusion rate of 0.5 μg/kg/hr serve as anaesthetic adjuvant of choice in patients undergoing laparoscopic surgeries.
