Abstract :

OBJECTIVE: Comparative study of effects of Mirabegron versus Alfuzosin and Mirabegron combined on double–J stent–related lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) following endourological surgery. METHOD: 150 patients with double– J stent–related LUTS, randomized into three groups, received Mirabegron, Mirabegron Alfuzosin combination and placebo, starting from postoperative day 7th once daily for 14 days. Visual analogue scale for pain (VAS), International prostate symptom score (IPSS) and Quality of life assessment index (QOLI) were used to assess the symptoms of patients enrolled in our study. Data was analyzed with SPSS version 20.0 with one–way ANOVA test. RESULT: Changes in total VAS, mean IPSS and QOLI during treatment period was significantly greater in combination group than monotherapy group. CONCLUSION: Combined Alfuzosin Mirabegron once daily might help to reduce ureteral stent–related LUTS and abdominal pain that might be more effective than Mirabegron alone.
