Abstract :

Inflammation of pancreas and /or peripancreatic tissue leads to acute pancreatitis. Repeated episode of acute pancreatitis leads to recurrent acute pancreatitis (RAP)which has propensity to develop into chronic pancreatitis (CP).The ansa pancreatica is a rare type of anatomical variation of the pancreatic duct.It is a communication between the main pancreatic duct (of Wirsung) and the accessory pancreatic duct (of Santorini). The ansa pancreatica arises as a anch duct from the main pancreatic duct. It descends down initially, it then ascends upward forming a loop finally terminating at the minor papilla.. Ansa pancreatica is considered as a predisposing factor of recurrent pancreatitis.
