Women work participation rate in North East India: Levels and Patterns

Abstract :
In recent years, women are playing an important role in economic development. But the work paticipation rate of women in India is still lagging behind their male counter part. The present study tries to examine the level and pattern of work participation rate amongst different states of North Eastern India. The study is based on Census data. The finding reveals that the work participation rate varies significantly with respect to the eight states of North Eatern India with Nagaland (44.7%) the highest and Assam (22.5%) the lowest value in 2011.
