Stress, Belief in God and Prayer Habits in Adolescents

Abstract :
Adolescence is a time of stress in the life cycle of a human being. Belief in God and Prayer habits are believed to alleviate stress. The study examined the relationship between stress and belief in God and prayer habits. 203 adolescents were administered a questionnaire on stress. Data on their belief in God and prayer habits were also collected. T tests and correlational analysis were conducted. It was found that females had higher stress levels, belief in God and prayer habits. However, there was no correlation between stress, belief in God and prayer habits. The higher levels of stress in females is hypothesized to be a result of pressure to confirm to societal role as a female.
