ROLE OF AMNIOTIC FLUID OPTICAL DENSITY IN PREDICTION OF FUNCTIONAL MATURITY OF NEWBORN - A CLINICAL PROSPECTIVE STUDY

Dr. Amulya Irigineni, Dr. K. Vandana

Abstract :

Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS) remains a common cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality. Consequently, fetal lung maturity testing plays an important role in establishing obstetric management strategies. Cesarean sections done at less than 39 weeks gestation have increased risk of neonatal morbidity including respiratory distress, hypoglycaemia, sepsis, NICU admissions, hospitalization for more than 5 days, etc this study aims at correlating fetal maturity with amniotic fluid optic density
