PREVALENCE OF ANAEMIA AMONG ADOLESCENT GIRLS IN RURAL AREA, BIJAPUR.A CROSS SECTIONAL STUDY

Abstract :
INTRODUCTION– India has the world’s highest prevalence of iron deficiency anaemia among women, with 60 to 70 percent of the adolescent girls being anaemic. Adolescence is considered as a nutritionally critical period of life Objectives–1.To know prevalence of anaemia among adolescent girls 2.To study association of socio demographic charcterstics in relation to anaemia Material methods–Cross sectional study was conducted in rural area which is field practice area of dept of community medicine, Shri B.M.Patil medical college ,Bijapur. Results – Significant association was found between prevalence of anaemia with type of family, socio economic status, and mother education. Conclusion– A high prevalence of anaemia was found among the adolescent girls
