HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF SHAIVISM IN BANARAS DURING THE MEDIVIAL PERIOD

Abstract :
This paper aims at inging out the Cultural and Historical Development of Shaivism during the Medieval Period in the city of Kashi. Shaivism is the oldest sect that has its roots in time immemorial. The word Shaivism has been derived from the Sanskrit root “Shiva” which means “the auspicious one or Kalyaankari.”
