Hazards and Public Health Impacts of Hospital Waste
Vanamala Narayana, Sushma Rudraswamy, Nagabhushana Doggalli
Abstract :
All individuals exposed to hazardous hospital waste are potentially at risk, including those within health–care establishments that generate hazardous waste, and those outside these sources who either handle such waste or are exposed to it as a consequence of careless management. Careless and indiscriminate disposal of this waste by healthcare establishments and research institutions can contribute to the spread of serious diseases such as hepatitis and HIV among those who handle it and also among the general public.
