ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE �KAS PLATEAU AND KAS LAKE�: ROLE OF NGOs IN ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND CONSERVATION

Abstract :

Environmental pollution is the global problem. Kas (Plateau and Lake) is the scenic, eco–sensitive place of Satara district. Recently it has been included into the World Heritage Centres. The efforts have been taken to protect this place with the help of GOs and NGOs. Kas is known as the ‘Valley of Flowers’. This place is polluted due to natural and human activities. The different NGOs have been working for the protection and conservation of Kas since last few decades. The NGOs have taken a lot of efforts to protect it. It is a duty of every citizen to give better contribution in protection of this world heritage place.
