ROLE OF INTRATYMPANIC STEROID IN IDIOPATHIC SUDDEN SENSORINEURAL HEARING LOSS

Abstract :
The aim of this study is the investigation of the effectiveness of intratympanic steroids therapy (IST) in patients with idiopathic sudden sensorineural heå loss (ISSHL), evaluating the overall heå recovery. Our study consisted of 30 patients with refractory ISSHL, who had a puretone 4-frequency average (PTA) of worse than 30 dB . 10 patients presented with tinnitus along with sudden SNHL.The patients received 0.5 mL of dexamethasone by direct intratympanic injection. The procedure was carried out every alternate day for 7 days.
