PREVALENCE OF OTITIS MEDIA WITH EFFUSION IN CHILDREN WITH OBSTRUCTIVE ADENOID DISEASE.

Abstract :
Background and objective: To assess the prevalence of otitis media in children with adenoid hypertrophy. Methods: A case control study carried out at a multispeciality hospital between may and august 2017. One hundred children were enrolled in the study, 50 children in the study group and 50 children in the control group. All the 100 children underwent tympanometry.Results: Data analysis was performed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The prevalence of OME in children with adenoid hypertrophy at a multispeciality hospital is 67.3% in the study group and in the control group is 15.4 % (95% CI 4.4 to 29.3).Conclusion: Otitis media with effusion is more prevalent in patients with adenoid hypertrophy when compared with patients without adenoid hypertrophy
