High incidence of acute renal failure with oxidative stress in older female

Abstract :
Advance age, underlying as risk factor for the development of acute renal failure. Acute renal failure is a loss of renal function over a period of hours to days, as reflected in the glomerular filtration rate and it is usually considered a disease of the hospitalized patients. Reactive oxygen species are constantly formed within the body from oxidation-reduction reactions due to incomplete reduction of molecular oxygen. Superoxide anion radicals (O2â^™-), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and the highly reactive hydroxyl radical (OHâ^™) are responsible for many of the biological effects of free radicals within the human body. Acute renal failure are associated with increased serum potassium, creatinine, urea and plasma malondialdehyde and hyponatremia in older age and decreased antioxidants enzymes are also associated with the disease.
