COMPARISON BETWEEN DULOXETINE AND GABAPENTINFOR POSTOPERATIVE PAIN RELIEF

Abstract :
Background: Postoperative pain management has been a burning topic of research so as to ensure patient comfort and alleviation of fear and anxiety.Duloxetine and Gabapentin have been used in various dosages and combination for pain management . This study is conducted to commpare the efficacy inpost –operative pain relief. Methods :A hospital based,prospective randomized comparative study in women undergoing hysterctomyin which70 female patients for hysterctomy were divided into two groups. Group A patients were administerd 60 mg duloxetine orally and Group B subjects were given 900 mg gabapentin orally 2 hours prior to surgery andthe results were compared. Coclusion : Duloxetine and gabapentin both reduced postoperative opid consumption and NRS score. Gabapentin offered better pain relief tham duloxetine and reduces the nausea and voiting but causes more sedation
