Abstract :

Introduction-Gallstone disease remains one of the major cause of abdominal morbidity and mortality through the world, representing a major health problem. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is the preferred procedure. Laparoscopic surgery is associated with better preservation of immune function and a reduction of the inflammatory response compared with open surgery. The rate of post operative infections seems to be significantly lower Pre-operative prediction of �difficult laparoscopic cholecystectomy� may not only improve patient safety but also be useful in reducing the overall cost of therapy. This study aims at identifying factors which can predict difficult laparoscopic cholecystectomy and correlate with postoperative complications. Material and methods- It was prospective study. All patients undergoing Laparoscopic cholecystectomy were included in study. Results- It can be concluded that LC is the gold standard for the management of gall stone disease. Preoperative risk factors can help to predict difficult gallbladder and conversion to OC. These factors can predict difficulty to be encountered during surgery and help in making a decision for conversion thus shortening the duration of surgery and preventing unnecessary complications.
